Saturday Morning Race Series - Final Standings

Congratulations to Phoebe Spare, 2010 PARA J4-5 Champion

SRRC hosted another successful PAR-GMVS J4-5 State Championship Derby at Ski Roundtop on Feb. 27-28 and our team of talented and energetic young racers came away with another state championship title and several podium finishes. Phoebe Spare bested the girls over two days of competition in a tight battle to claim the overall championship. She finished 3rd in SL and 2nd in GS. Tess Beinhaur overcame a chipped tooth during Saturday's SL race by posting two strong finishes in GS on Sunday to claim the state GS championship. She finished 5th overall. Blake Bowman won both runs of SL on Saturday to claim the state SL championship but slipped to 2nd place overall after running into a little trouble during Sunday's GS. The state GS championship was won by Andrew Stewart (little skippy) who posted a first and a second place finish on Sunday, finishing in 4th place overall. Carson Twiford skied very consistently both days, finishing 3rd in SL, 4th in GS and 3rd overall. Luke Midock skied well in Sunday's GS, winning one run, to finish 3rd in GS and 6th overall. Jessie Meyer finished 4th in one run of SL and appeared to be headed for another good result in GS before crashing three gates from the finish. Jessie rebounded with a strong effort in his second run to finished 9th overall. In the end, SRRC athletes claimed 5 of the 9 men's team and 2 of the 7 ladies team spots, placing a total of 7 athletes on the PARA J4-5 State Team which is headed to the Future Stars Festival at Waterville Valley, NH on March 21-23. Eva King, Casey Wakeen, Derek Simpson and Paul Hedin also skied well and for their efforts earned an invitation to the Francis Piche's Invitational race at Gunstock, NH on March 18-20.
